As a small boy in Kansas standing on a platform at the train station not realizing that the part I played history would never record, and integration would be a word seldom used. Looking back at my life I was one of the young negro boys who was selected to perform at the train station when President Truman arrived. The poem I quoted was “Freedom Train” by Langston Hughes. In those days Black History was not a subject offered in school, and the mentors we had were few, George Washington Carver, and Frederick Douglass, at least that is who we talked about the most. Years after finishing school and becoming who I am today, if only there had been a platform such as Christians Got Talent or The Now Network.
